Hi, Michael here.

I wanted to share something with you about being an entrepreneur. I believe my entrepreneurial journey has been one of my greatest teachers in my personal growth.

I have learned that in creating and building your own business you learn a lot about yourself. You have to create and manage so much; your offerings, your website, your marketing content, etc. And the scariest part (when you’re just starting out) is that you have to make all the big decisions while watching your bank balance shrink.

We believe that being on the entrepreneurial journey is one of the quickest paths to growing into the person you desire to be.

Sure, you can go and sit on a mountain somewhere and meditate for a year. But when you come back and face all the triggers your world has to offer, you suddenly don’t feel as enlightened anymore. When we are fully immersed in everything life has to offer, we learn much more.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to separate the success or failure of my business from myself.

When something is not working in our business we tend to take things personally.

We start doubting ourselves, thinking it’s us, that we’re not working hard enough or not being smart enough.

The way to get out of this cycle is to use a model to perceive reality in an objective way. We are big fans of the Business Model Canvas (BMC). The BMC is used widely in the startup community and the Strategic Storytelling process is highly complementary to it. See this 2 minute video explaining what the BMC is about.

When you use the BMC framework you depersonalize your business.

Instead of thinking something is wrong with you, you see that actually there is something wrong in your business model. Because of the structured approach you can quickly tell what it is, learn, adapt, test and reinvent. No blame or guilt needed, just business.

Would you like to learn more about how you can use the BMC to your advantage? Send me a short email and we’ll create more content or even a mini-workshop about how you can create an objective model of reality for your business so that you can stay on track to build your vision in clear steps.

Oh and in case you missed the last one. We have another Strategic Storytelling mini-workshop coming up on May 18th. As part of our community, you can use the discount code SHIFTNOW to get 66% off ($10 instead of $29).

Thanks for doing what you do in the world,

Kai & Michael
